Woodville Time Capsule 2075

Fifty years ago, the Woodville Centennial Committee sealed a time capsule filled with items that captured everyday life in our town. That capsule has now been opened, revealing a fascinating glimpse into 1975.

Inside were telegraphs, cassette tapes, centennial memorabilia—and a fair bit of committee paperwork! Together, these items offer a unique snapshot of the time and a reminder of how much things have changed (and in some cases, how much they haven’t).

The full contents are now on display at Rinitawa Art and History – Woodville, open daily from 10am to 4pm.

Planning for 2075

As we celebrate Woodville 150 Years, we’re now preparing to create a new time capsule—one that will be opened in 50 years’ time, in 2075.

We're currently gathering ideas for what could be included. What objects, images, or pieces of life today might help tell the story of our community in 2025?

Some early suggestions include:

  • Examples of modern technology

  • Books or poetry by local authors

  • Photographs of everyday life in Woodville

  • Merchandise from local businesses

  • School projects from our young people

  • Unique items that represent our town’s character

We’d love to hear your ideas. 💡

👉 Go to our Facebook page and give a suggestion, or fill in the form at the display at Rinitawa.
