Skate Park
We’ve almost got all the funds that we need to build a new skate park in Woodville.
Plans are well underway for the creation of a local skate park designed to provide a safe and engaging recreational space for children and young people of all skill levels. This project is more than just ramps and rails; it's about encouraging outdoor activity and giving our youth a space they can call their own.
We have to admit, we’re not exactly experts in building skate parks… so we’ve found some! We’ve been working with J-Stone Skate Parks and they’ve got tons of knowledge and experience when it comes to designing and building skateparks and mountain bike tracks.
We’ve also been checking in with the staff at Tararua District Council and the team from Pahiatua Bush Multisport Trust to understand what’s worked well (and what hasn’t) in other areas.
We’ve fundraised $301,000 out of the $500,000 that we need.
We’re working on (what we hope is) our final funding application and the decision on this application is due in June 2025. The community can expect an update on this project after we hear the result of our application.
Here’s what the timeline looks like…
Early-2025:
Prepare and submit our (hopefully) final application for funding.
Recieve the detailed design from J-Stone Skate Parks and apply to Council for approval of the preferred site.
June 2025: Decision due on funding application.
Late-2025: If the funding application and site applications are successful, construction of the skate park will begin!
Take a peek at the initial design:
Concept design prepared by J-Stone Skate Parks.
Please note, this is not the current design. This is an older version we’ve places here for the moment. We’re working on getting the latest copy and uploading it here as soon as possible. Sorry about this 😔 - we know you’re excited to see how the plans are looking!

The final site is still to be approved by the Council, but we are working to ensure it is a central and accessible location for the community.
